Karah Burns DeMarle
Dr Burns DeMarle is originally from Rochester, New York. She graduated with an associate degree in veterinary science technology at SUNY Canton and then transferred to Cornell University to complete her Bachelor's degree in animal science. She then went on to complete veterinary school at The Ohio State University before returning back to the East Coast to complete both her rotating internship and small animal internal medicine residency at The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.
As a boarded small animal internist, Dr Burns treats various diseases that involve the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, endocrine and hematologic systems. She also routinely performs scopes of the nose, airway, gastrointestinal tract and bladder. Although she loves all aspects of internal medicine, she has a passion for those disorders that effect the liver and gallbladder in both cats and dogs. She has a special interest in a rare disease seen in dogs called hepatocutaneous syndrome and has published two studies on this disease. Additionally, she has a special interest in ultrasound.
During her free time, Dr Burns loves to travel and has been all over the world. She also enjoys sewing and crafts and is a avid Swiftie. She currently lives in Norwalk, Connecticut with her husband and daughter. Their family also includes two dogs (a chihuahua named Frenchie and a pomeranian named Sprinkles), three cats (two domestic short hairs named Mya and Pickles, and a Scottish fold named Kiwi) and a menagerie of fish.
Although Dr Burns has practiced as a boarded specialist in both New Jersey and Connecticut, she is excited to join the team at the Animal Specialty Center and help provide compassionate and detail oriented care to those pets in Westchester county. Dr Burns loves connecting to her clients and enjoys educating them on their pet's disease. She also loves forming connections with her referral veterinarians and has had the honor to care for many of their own pets.
