Cecilia Hawana

Cecilia has always had a passion for working in the veterinary field. Her family had many pets growing up, and she frequently rescued pets, including birds, stray cats, and dogs. These circumstances helped to catapult her determination and interest in pursuing a degree and career in veterinary medicine.

She earned her degree from SUNY Alfred State College of Technology with an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology in May of 2011. As a recent graduate with managerial experience and a background in shelter care, she decided to expand her knowledge and expertise in veterinary medicine by applying to ASC.

Although she loved shelter medicine, she wanted to further explore the field and gain experience in ER, ICU, and Specialty Care. Since then, she has grown to love this category of veterinary medicine - and ASC now holds a special place in her heart. Nothing makes this career more rewarding for Cecilia than to care for patients who were unable to speak.

Cecilia has enjoyed working and being mentored by so many very experienced, caring, and passionate Veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, and managers. It's at ASC that the good has always outweighed the bad. The tenacity needed for emergency care allows the team to strive to provide patients with the best animal care. Cecilia says, "The team's compassion and skills have made it pleasant for me to accept the leadership position as a Tech Supervisor. I accepted the position to challenge myself and become more involved in the growth of the hospital as a whole."

Unique Facts: I have an orange feline that my 8-year-old son named after the planet Jupiter. I rescued him from ASC when he was just 6-weeks-old! Also, although I'm not very experienced, I love acroyoga and took many classes prior to COVID-19.
