Tai Parra

Tai knew she wanted to work with animals from a young age. She awards credit to her aunt, who worked at the Bronx Zoo, for encouraging her love for the animal field. Her aunt shared behind-the-scenes experiences with Tai, which stimulated her passion for animal care. Tai went on to earn her Associate Degree in Applied Sciences for Veterinary Technology in 2015 and passed the Veterinary Technology National Exam (VTNE) shortly after.

Previously, she worked as a Veterinary Assistant on a mobile veterinary hospital that did home visits, radiographs, bloodwork, surgery, and at-home euthanasias. That is when she began implementing some of the knowledge she learned in school and began practicing her skills.

After passing her VTNE, Tai joined Animal Specialty Center as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). ASC was a desirable and fast-paced environment she needed to help hone in on her skills. Tai said, "Being at ASC has allowed me to grow into a skilled and efficient technician. Because of the doctors, fellow technicians, and management, I've had the confidence and knowledge to advance to a training lead, a shift lead, and now an ER/ICU Supervisor. Working in emergency and critical care, where I can advocate for my patients and provide lifesaving treatments, is my passion. I can't imagine working in a different specialty nor at a different hospital." ASC is grateful to have team members like Tai to help us expand the horizons of veterinary care.
